This course is designed to provide an overview of music history with a kid-friendly, modern approach that is completely hands-on.  The timeline of western music is a detailed one, and the eager learner will benefit from learning the difference between Classical and Baroque, Romantic and various 20th Century styles.

For both the older and younger groups, one time period of western music will be explored per week (in chronological order).  For each time period, the most famous composer from that era will be the focal point, and one of his songs will be the listening/playing/creating example for that week.  Mozart did write “Twinkle Tinkle” after all!  By the 10th week, each student will have his or her own folder of all activities to keep and take home, and musical knowledge that will last a lifetime.
