Sampler I
The
MYGEMS
Science
Center
will provide the opportunity to enroll children in a great
hands-on science program that promotes diversity.
Do you want your child to learn about different
topics of science? If
you answered ye, then enroll your little scientist in the
MYGEMS Science Sampler Program where they will be able to
have fun while learning about various topics in science.
Form astronomy to astrobiology, biology to
bioengineering, your child will engage in exploratory
concepts that promote learning in a fun way.
Your child will also have experiences of using
scientific vocabulary, writing in science journals and
learning about the multicultural contributions of science.

in a fun yet not complicating manner.
Chemistry requires patience and the MYGEMS Science
Center has created a program that will encourage student
success in learning about chemistry that also provides real
life applications and activities to bring the information to
life. This
class is done in two parts:

Explore!
Music
This
course is designed to provide an overview of music history
with a kid-friendly, modern approach that is completely
hands-on. The
timeline of western music is a detailed one, and the eager
learner will benefit from learning the difference between
Classical and Baroque, Romantic and various 20th
Century styles.
For
both the older and younger groups, one time period of
western music will be explored per week (in chronological
order). For
each time period, the most famous composer from that era
will be the focal point, and one of his songs will be the
listening/playing/creating example for that week.
Mozart did write Twinkle Tinkle after all!
By the 10th week, each student will have
his or her own folder of all activities to keep and take
home, and musical knowledge that will last a lifetime.

Scholars. Explore!
Believes in teaching lifetime skills; everyone can learn how
to learn to draw if given instruction!
Techniques for laying down colors, creating light and
shade, simple perspective and depth, are all parts of the
weekly process. See
your childs skills develop and mature.
Remember that what you draw, you learn 8 times faster
and retain 8 times longer.

Kids
love Sign Language! Its
fun, visually stimulating, and easy to learn.
Did you know that American Sign Language is the
fourth most commonly used language in the
United States
? Many colleges
and universities are even accepting ASL as a foreign
language requirement. Sign
Language helps us to reinforce vocabulary, strengthen
language skills, improve spelling, and increase reading
ability. Students
will learn over 200 new signs in each of the two 10 week
courses! They
also are taught proper interpreting and presentation skills
that are necessary for proper sign language communication.

Walk in the Woods
A
WALK IN THE WOODS introduces participants to the wonders of
wildlife with museum based, environmental education programs
featuring live animals.
We bring the great outdoors
indoors to allow each
participant to gain a better understanding of our
environment through interactive exhibits and live animal
demonstrations. Our goal is to empower participants to
become inquirers about the natural world by simply taking a
walk in the woods.
